Keeping Current
A really bad hair day
Naturally, they would call the bad hair gene Frizzle6, which is one of 10 Frizzle genes that you,
along with mice, have. But as scientists at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine have found, if a mouse
lacks Frizzle6 it winds up…well, looking frizzled. As a result, hair that would normally grow in one
direction can grow in swirls that might be clockwise or counterclockwise. Cowlick, anyone? There
isn’t any cure for Frizzle6 deficiency just yet, but one is sure to hit the stands any day now, with
a testimonial from, most likely, Mickey himself.
