Keeping Current
All tied up in knots
Some muscle knots or spasms are temporary and everyone seems to get them at some time or other during normal exercise. But some seem to overstay their welcome and linger painfully. The condition, which results in chronic localized knots, is called myofascial pain syndrome, and while it has a name the cause of the condition is still uncertain. If you feel you're all tied up in knots, check out the Beth Israel Medical Center's Web site, stoppain.org, for more information on diagnosing and relieving the problem.
